Dec 7, 2018 blackmail scam I am a spyware software developer. Your account has been hacked by me in the summer of 2018. Dec 7, 2018 blackmail scam The email asked for $918 to be sent to the Bitcoin cryptocurrency wallet: 1A4ffsLWPYC8n7Dq4s4aiY5mzG4szuHx3M. The email starts with: I am a spyware software developer. Your account has been hacked by me in the summer of 2018. I understand that it is hard to believe, but here is my evidence (I sent you this email from your account). The hacking was carried out using a hardware vulnerability through which you went online (Cisco router, vulnerability CVE-2018-0296). The email appears to be a hoax/Trojan horse (which was caught/stopped by my anti-virus software) and I do not appear to be infected or compromised. Reporting this so others may now that it is bullshit and not to fall for it.

Dec 7, 2018 blackmail scam GUYS - NOT TO WORRY! YOU HAVE NOT BEEN "HACKED"! This guy know's a thing or two - but NOT how to actually hack your router or your e-mail and do the shit he describes in his asshole email! He might have learned how to generate random e-mail adresses (using his "Aaron Smith"-alias), or use a SMTP-fake to make it look like it came from "you". He might also know how to use a VPN so he always sends his emails from a new IP (look at the comments where people posted the e-mail header, mine came from Pakistan), but that's ALL it is. Congratulations - you know how to install Kali Linux and see some YouTube-videos! Good job, jackass! (someone's been watching too much Mr. Robot) The CVE-code he's referering too (CVE-2018-0296), doesn't even apply to home routers. Guys, it's all fake and just some noob who's trying too hard.
